Hi! I'm Chef John Olson
Born and raised in Iowa, but well traveled, I came to professional cooking later in life than most people in the field. Great food has always been a huge part of life for my family and friends,and luckily I was able to make the leap from skilled amateur to culinary professional in my early thirties.
After completing courses at Indian Hills Community College School of Culinary Arts in Ottumwa, Iowa , I spent the next several years honing my skills in some of the area's finest restaurants. Regina's, Tuscan Moon, and Linn St. Cafe. (just to shamelessly namedrop)
While restaurant work is without a doubt fascinating, educational, and exciting, at the end of the day preparing food in a more personal atmosphere has always had a greater appeal to me.
